im getting here and there unraked player against me, and I always ask them "First comp?" they answer "Yes", I ask then "have you played quick play before" they always answer "No"

its a free win on my side but its a lose and confusing on their side that can made them stop playing draftout (checked couple of my unraked opponents they stopped playing after 1-2 comp games without playing quickplay ones)
I always suggest them to play quickplay before comp.

you never know what they do after the lose they easily just jump straight into comp and then didn't understand and gave up on draftout or they get confused and stop playing draftout

my suggestion is to add at least maximum of 5 games in quickplay before heading into compaga

its in everygame, valorant, cs2, apex, RB6, OW2, PUBG and moredoid

It is a bit strange that at any time I might queue a diamond (top 5%) or I might queue someone who's never even played once before

its in these other games to improve the experience for teammates
NADDY

bc they are team games

idk if someone wants to jump into comp i think they should be able to and i dont see it being much different from quick play

Yeah in a singleplayer game I think it makes sense to have either this or high rating deviation for the first few games though. Otherwise new players start low then climb, deflating everyone else's elo

its been said the rating system will be totally reworked

after beta
NADDY

so i think that will happen

I don't think it should be anywhere near as harsh as say, Valorant, where it takes weeks of playing to unlock comp

yeaaa val lowkey sucks
Threadfinn
Threadfinnlast month
yeah probably just have to wait

Maybe a warning message for people queueing comp for their first game would suffice? Something like, "We recommend first-time players play some quickplay" or something idk

I definitely relate to this because I got destroyed for my first comp games, went and played quickplay, and then immediately elo slingshotted like 150 elo

the problem im at 1100 elo rn and I get a lot unraked players
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
and its always their first game at draftout
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
when I played my first game I had to go through silver and golds

it takes around 2 months btw
needed level 20
and each week you get weekly missions that help maybe ranked up 2 levels
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
in cs you need to win 10 games in competitive to unlock premier

I think for draftout just having to play one quickplay match to unlock ranked is good.
Threadfinn
Threadfinnlast month
Just so people realize what playing actually feels like and then can decide whether to jump straight in to ranked or practice first

The weekly missions don't even help you level up. They give XP, but you level up with AP. you get a bonus each day for winning a game, which is equal to a few normal games without the bonus.

I think 1 is to fast
3-5 seems more reasonable

eventually the main point is to make them stay and enjoy draftout

when you get confused or lost and you don't want to deal much with it you just give up
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
in level 1-10 it helps ranked up fast
11-20 you need to grind your as off its crazy
muttonfish

Personally I think 1 is plenty, might even be too many
muttonfish

like just getting the hang of juggling goals is the hard part, not neccesarily confusion about how the game works
muttonfish
muttonfishlast month
at least in my opinion
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
1 quick play is too much?😭
muttonfish
muttonfishlast month
Yes I have no attention span
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
I don't understand whst you mean
muttonfish
muttonfishlast month
Ok actually the real reason I think 1 is plenty is because I think locking aspects of the game is bad in a single player (ish) game
Threadfinn
Threadfinnlast month
Yeah I don't think I phrased it well. I didn't really mean learning what the game is, more just realizing maybe it's harder to keep track of than they thought and they decide they want to practice before throwing away 200 elo in 3 placement games.
muttonfish
muttonfishlast month
Nah, you're good I just skimmed what you wrote tbh
Threadfinn
Threadfinnlast month
Also like if you don't have the attention span for one quickplay how are you able to stay for an entire ranked match when it's often twice as long as a beginner?
muttonfish
muttonfishlast month
I don't like waiting for things, but when given a goal I can stay focused for a long time.
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
not just to keep track these players dosent know what to go for
what is early goals
what position they are at and what goal they can do and stuff
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
basically he dosent want to waste him time at quick play because its meaningless

and in comp he can gain something
Threadfinn
Threadfinnlast month
yeah i kinda get it
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
but still other people needs to at least know what they are going for in quickplay which you can understand a little after couple games

but if not wanting to grind it then they can play comp but needed to unlock

a warning message is fine but id be annoyed if i couldnt just get into it because trial by fire is way more fun imo , especially now that quick play isnt even 5x5

honestly i feel like every unranked player ive played has played a few quick play games before
mr. pineapple

when i first started i also played a few quick play games

i honestly disagree since some people might just want to see where they stand and that would encourage queuing up qp and then insta forfeiting
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
people will just press okay and ignore it
nakedhippo219587
nakedhippo219587OPlast month
played at least 5 in past 2 days
non of them played ranked or quick play before
I got up to 5-0
6-1 and they just ff and leave
isawabelle

people would also go like 6-1 in quick play and ff tho? i think the main issue is some people just arent willing to put in the time to learn and improve 😭 if someone is quitting because they lost their first couple of games really badly then they arent the kinda people who are going to play much anyways
pinkpuff
pinkpufflast month
Well yes And i think they should be able to
