i played a match where there was a ruined portal near spawn with no obsidian. my opponent got the ice bucket challenge advancement super early. i searched everywhere else after the match, there was nothing else close to get it from.

I think that occasionally chunk generation order can lead to structures generating slightly differently.

Generation at spawn is standardized by draftout but if it's outside that range it could be why.

It's still rare that it can be different but it's probably just that their ruined portal had a different rotation or was moved a block. I fthe chest generated in a different spot it would have different loot.

Not supposed to happen obviously, but that's why they added the spawn standardization to try and avoid this.

alright i understand

i loaded up other worlds with the same seed and i got the same loot pool as i did in game but ig if that can happen oh well

I think it's partly hardware related and partly direction related. So for something close to spawn they probably just had a different pc that somehow generated it differently.

Also I think marin fixed the issue specifically for shipwrecks but not for all structures maybe.

huh i've never heard about structures generating differently on any mc version i think, can it really happen

this happened to nEmerald like couple days ago
