probably unviable in the form i describe it below but maybe can be developed.

the same as competitive queue but you dont know who your opponent is and cant see their advancements/dimension/any other info of what they are doing except the goals.

this gamemode might be enjoyable more to some people because in game player will be more focused on making more "objectively" correct decisions rather than decisions affected by psychology and stuff.

examples of current competitive gamemode affecting decision-making: "i know wood tools first is probably the right decision but my opponent is so much better than me at mechanics so im not going to go for it", "i know wood tools first is probably not the right decision but im gonna go for it because i almost certain my opponent is gonna go for them", "my opponent is so much better than me in general so im gonna gamble more", "i know my opponent is bad at goal X so im gonna draft it over something i know my opponent is good at", "i know my opponent is already at fort and i need to spend at least 2 mins to get there so im going to go do other stuff now", "me doing a goal not only affects the board state but also my opponent's behavior thats why im going to hold completing a goal until they get a required advancement for it". and these are only the most basic ones that immediately come to mind.

the unviability i see with the version i described is that you can still tell opponent's progress on something by goals they completed/recently completed and this can motivate people to hold onto even more stuff to completely hide their progress, but if someone is reading this and can think of a better concept that would resolve these issues for players for who these are issues please share it in the thread.

Zen mode (hide elo's + opponent) is on the dev's TODO list (or at least they're aware and think it's a good idea)

This is suggesting a different queue where both players would have this

Not a setting toggle

Wait is that what you're suggesting?

So you want a gamemode that has the competitive element of lockout but without knowing anything about them, so the strategic element of multiplayer is also gone.

That's a bit too niche of a gamemode at that point I think

I think you'll just have to choose between singleplayer blackout and competitive with zen mode on.

the strategic element of multiplayer is not eliminated, you can see when your opponent gets goals. in the third paragraph in this post they specify that this would be a good gamemode because advancements, visible elo, and player identity are incredibly prevalent psychological influences

zen mode is a separate thing
jes

it would be nice to have a separate queue

well, the version i describe certainly is

but i wanted to suggest not exactly the gamemode i described but the gamemode that achieves what i described: you still fight for elo in some form and compete but no psychology

i honestly think it is a good and harmless twist

it's the same as any other handicap changing how you play

gamemode where if you get a generated board but its not lockout but rather bingo and you need to get X out of Y goals to finish and wins player with lower time can be a better solution
hset

because in that case there is always literally as objective as it gets best decision for every situation

no idea if next statement is obvious or not but even if you are playing theoretical most rational player who is perfectly aware of the whole seed and has perfect mechanics you can still beat them just if you know what exactly they are planning to do

this at its theoretical limit makes draftout a game of rock paper scissors but with significantly more decisions than just 3 (rock paper scissors in terms of cycle in which they beat each other and not in terms of coin flip analogy)
