Client-Side option to Force Red vs Blue

I know its been suggested before (and somewhat shut down because having colours not match the website/other players in a 1v1 format is weird) but I believe this is strictly necessary to have from an accessibility standpoint.
As someone with some friends who can't tell the difference between red and green or blue and purple, not having an option to standardise the colours on the board worsens the experience and playability of the gamemode. I think adding a force red vs blue toggle, as well as maybe a few other options for the forced toggle (such as black vs grey and other colourblind-friendly options) would help improve the experience for people, and if such an option is really a big problem for a 1v1 setting, the option can be banned in competitive tournaments.

I guess some other accessibility options may help if the colours not matching is an absolute no-go, an initial thought is having a different goal border colour for goals you've completed vs goals your opponent has completed.

I think it would be a good idea to, just in general, have the colors you set be client-side, and just keep the red-blue for the board in other places, such as the website

I mean having the colours match in other places is cool tho, since then players have "their colour" (and it gives more value to selling colours for support ranks)
I don't want an accessibility feature to take away from that personally

I really like just the basic red vs blue
because the green or purple just so bright for me and it's annoying client side would be good
about the color blind then yeah it kinda in need of

Literally makes 0 sense to not have the colours be completely client side, in R6S and other games you can freely change your teams/opponents colours

serverside colors is better for viewing multiple perspectives, the board will look the same

client-side colors are better for when you're playing and not watching
roobley2 months ago(edited)
it’s only better as the player, it’s kind of worse everywhere else

client side colors isn’t really a bad idea but saying there’s 0 reason not to have it is wrong

like i said here i do really like having server side colours, its a really cool way of making each player feel more different (especially at a high level)
but there does need to be some consideration for accessibility, whether that be via a client-side colours setting or some other method - the colours being able to go on top of the goals instead of behind is already a decent start

true, there isn't 0 reason

the colour customisation should be for the player, not hypothetical viewers
if you're watching 2 streams at once, or an edited VOD, it's pretty clear who is who

when I watch two perspectives at once I don't think "nice, they have consistent colors", I think "so who is who... oh they have the same colors on each side? that's interesting"

i guess an option is, add the hex colour serverside option - but have a clientside option to override those with default colours (blue vs red), if you prefer that clarity instead of customisation

(this convo turned into something else, but yes having a way to override the colors is very important for accessibility)

i just realised thats the original post bruh, its good

what if it only overrode the colors for the players screen but still displayed as the normal on screen captures. it would definitely be weird but technically it has both benefits

i think eventually if draftout has some sorta playoffs-style tournament you could def have a central board in addition to the 2 povs that has their server-side colours

like the mcsr ranked playoffs having the explosives & rods etc. display
