Yes, I understand that a couple of posts have suggested this gamemode before. However, I believe that they didn’t get enough attention (positive nor negative), so I wanted to bring it up once more while also explaining its upsides a bit better.
Yes, part of the appeal to Draftout is its parallel-world system. In addition, though, a same-world gamemode opens doors to lots of new gameplay and strategies, and could potentially draw new types of players to Draftout.
Firstly, the competition for Goals would be fiercer and more tangible, particularly in the area of resource competition. For example, a shipwreck on standard Draftout represents resources for both players; on a same-world gamemode, it represents not only resources, but an opportunity to take resources away from your opponent, which isn’t as possible in a parallel-world gamemode. Structures, biomes, and resources are freed from being merely part of a static, shared gameplay line, and become pieces on a rapidly waning chessboard. If you go to the village, you give up the igloo; if you cave, you give up the sheep on the surface; etc, etc. You must predict your opponent’s moves much more than on a parallel-world gamemode, and you are able counter them much easier.
Secondly, the PvP aspect. I understand that many players may not want to play a Draftout mode with PvP, but no one is forced to; I’d argue that having it as an option for those who want it makes Draftout more accessible to more types of players and creators.
As far as in-game implications, PvP adds a layer too complex to fully articulate here. Sabotaging your opponent becomes a genuine strategy that requires real skill to pull off. Spacing within the world becomes a factor, PvP skill becomes relevant, traps become possible, weapons and armor count for more than just Goal/PvE purposes, etc.
Additionally, there could be gamemodes with no PvP, Keep Inventory, etc; I’m sure people could invent many more ways to play this than I can think up.

Maybe this is all against the intended foundations of Draftout, but at the very least, it serves as an interesting discussion point. Thank you for reading.

this is just what the standard lockout mod is. Also it wouldn’t be feasible because of server issues

Imo this is a fun gamemode but its just a different game than draftout atp. You can already do this in the play lockoutmc server or using the lockout mod on your own. But a private lobby gamemode like this would put too much on the draftout servers to host most likely so doesnt seem worth it
