I had already colored black dyed helmet and then i dyed it for pink just as the task said and it didnt worked. I had to create a new one then color it for pink and it counted then. It was during ranked game.

when you add a dye to a colored helmet it combines the two dyes, not overrides the first dye like beds or wool

You would need to wash the black dyed helmet in a cauldron first and then color it pink

Alternatively, if you dye the helmet a certain colour enough times it becomes that colour
