I do agree that time limit of 1 hour is way too little. My most intensive and fun game took 1 hour 40 minutes and it was 9-12 clutch

I thought the point of the time limit was so lower skill players would have less swingy game times and could queue knowing that the game will be over within an hour

idk if it's a good tradeoff or not but I think that it's a matter of "what's better, games being able to go super long if things stay close but more games end from 13 goals, or for things to get cut off sooner and you can queue with that knowledge"

I get this reasoning but the 1hr time limit just does too much damage to the game and playstyle that it’s not beneficial

well with i noticed that lower skill players are most often going to send a draw request and then promptly forfeit if it isnt accepted as soon as they are in an unfavorable position. so with them i dont think its about knowing that the game is gonna be over in an hour

I am a chungus myself and one hour is too short for me but i think one justification for a short time limit is to make potential event scheduling at higher levels easier

Like increasing the time limit from 60 to 90 minutes means you will need to schedule 1/3 fewer matches per day and have potentially longer downtime between matches

Then the event can just set a custom timer , i dont really see how that would be any different than what ranked does for lcq. And at high level event stuff id hope the matches arent being determined by a 90min cutoff anyway

agreed, top level play shouldn’t and would probably never feature 60 or 90 completions

It should also at least be win by 2 instead of sudden death after the time limit. Like if there's 2 end goals the player who's down 11-12 might actually be winning but they would lose with this, changing how you have to play it.
Or say it's tied 11-11 at 55 minutes and two of the 3 remaining goals are amethyst. With no time limit playing for amethyst is obviously the correct play since the other goal doesn't really matter, but with the time limit it's probably better to focus that other goal to be up by 1 and win.
