Remove early-game death goals

Im talking about death by cactus, berry bush and drowning. If there is a race for them, it will be weird, because most of the time it would be the same spot, so people would die in the same tick. Idk what happen in server in that case, but if amount of ticks is the same and only 1 person gets the goal its just random and it really tilts you if you didnt get the goal

it's not tick based to my knowledge, there's a real-time system that just accounts for your ping

but minecraft is still tick-based. The time you actually spend is always intenger amount of ticks

cactus can suck but from what I've watched, berry bush and drowning tend to be big timesinks especially on early game boards

i feel like it's more likely that you lose the goal to movement over being a tick too slow

An example, to make my thought more clear:
You spawned closed to a cactus with "die to cactus" goal. You both aimed towards it and started sprintjumping asap. And you both died from it exactly on, say, 213 tick. What should server do? Giving goal to both players??? Giving it to only one of them?

I agree that it can be the case, however there are many possibilities that no one loses time to movement

i personally like the early death goals, its fun to route them and sometimes its less optimal to go for them early, not sure how the same tick thing works but thats not an issue with only the death goals

I don’t see why they should go, you give up other early goals if you go for the death goals and you have to actually decide if it is the right play

early game death goals are routing challenges

i think they were complaining about the same tick death thing more than the issue with the goals

and it should be very rare for any to come down to the tick probably

cactus being the only one I imagine it'd be common and like you only spawn in a desert sometimes

the early game death goals are good I think this is just an unfortunate edge case that should resolve with a 50/50, but it's totally worth it to have the goals even if this can happen

one game my opponent went for die to cactus right of the bat which allowed me to get a headstart on a bunch of goals and win the game

this won't happen realistically because it's not tick-based, it's RTA based, so minute differences in ping calculation (since ping is not static) will likely cause the goal to be awarded to one of the two players even if it's on the same tick and neither paused

it'd probably be smart to add a feature to correct for this at some point

i thought there was a system with the (adjusted for ping) text

not sure what happens if they both get exact same tick on their respective servers tho

prob just gives it to the guy who has the better ping tbh lol

I think you guys are misunderstanding, using RTA-based timing with ping adjustment *is * the feature, but this feature can't be perfect due to the inherent variability of packets traveling over a network. It also means that unless drafout uses a robust ping estimation/clock synchronization system, after adjusting for ping, there can be inaccuracies of a few milliseconds, which means determining who got the goal first is basically down to randomness

at least this is how i understand it to the best of my knowledge
