This could be in the form of something like JEI (accessed by clicking on a goal on the board) or as simple as unlocking the full recipe book from the start. I'm not worried about the layout within the crafting grid as much as I am the items required for a craft.

My point is that it feels very anti-new player to require them to google every recipe that they don't already have memorized (imagine Ludwig playing draftout) and I generally think that having to leave the game to look stuff up just messes with the flow, playability, and watchability of the gamemode.

I definitely get the argument that the memorization aspect is a form of skill expression, but even having to stop to look up a craft in game should be a significant enough time loss to give an advantage to knowledgeable players regardless. Additionally, limiting the feature to casual mode would preserve that skill expression for high level play.

tbf it can be a good learning experience for new players, should be limited to very low elos tho

this should not be allowed in the slightest

tabbing out to look something up takes 30 seconds and the net result is the player learns more about the game

falling back onto a mod removes learning and is also extremely nonvanilla

if ludwig streamed this and used jei mod instead of botching a rail recipe everyone would be calling him a cheater

they would not be happy that the watchability was slightly saved

it should 100% be a knowledge check, if you dont know how to craft something you can look it up immediately and tank that time loss 1 or a few more times until you dont take that timeloss at all
same as any other trick

although that doesnt meaningfully change anything about the suggestion, since it would be the same if it were built into the client, you would just be staying in the game instead of looking it up on a browser

imo not a priority but eventually i could see it

even if just for a casual mode for ease of access/qol

but even then, the games are much longer than a standard speedrun, the timeloss of searching it up doesnt really matter yet, and if you are at a high level you should know basically all the recipes minus some niche ones

hell you could look up how to make something when it appears in the draft, nonissue

i dont like this suggestion in general but no mod is needed, all youd have to do is unlock all crafts in the book and you can look up anything with the in game feature
